  • Perform Tasks related to preservation of library materials
  • Manages commercial binding and shelf preparation program and coordinates workflows with other library units
  • Manages and executes library conservation treatment program for paper-based
    circulating materials, including developing procedures, identifying and prioritizing
    materials for treatment, executing treatment, and coordinating workflows within
    library
  • Constructs protective enclosures for non-circulating special collections in various
    formats
  • Assists in providing conservation treatment for non-circulating items
  • Assists in library exhibitions by consulting library staff, fabricating custom
    supports, and preparing for loans
  • Hires, trains, and supervises student assistants
  • Responds to collection emergencies including mold and insect outbreak, water
    leak, and AC system breakdown. Documents collection related emergency and
    maintains their reports
  • Works with other Preservation Department staff to coordinate ordering and
    maintenance of supplies, equipment, and lab space
  • Manages collection care related special projects such as moving collections,
    rehousing, and cleaning materials
  • Conducts preservation assessment and surveys
